Materials needed
- Press-on nails
- Nail Filer
- Nail glue or adhesive tab
- Cuticle Pusher
Optional but helpful:
- USB LED Lamp
- Cuticle Oil
- Top coat
Procedure
Prepare your Natural Nails
- Cleanse: Wash and dry hands thoroughly. Using an alcohol prep pad may help in removing any oil or residue from the nails.
- Shape and File: Gently file the edges of the natural nails to match the shape of the press-on nails. Also buff the surface of the nails to lightly remove any shine.
- Push Back Cuticles: Using your cuticle pusher, gently push back the cuticles as it may help for longer wear and adhesion.
Select and Prepare the Press-On Nails
- Choose the right size: Select the press-on nails that best fit for each of the fingers.
- File and Buff the Press-On Nails: If necessary, file and buff the edges of the press-on nails for comfort and preference.
Apply Adhesive Tab or Nail Gel
- If Nail Glue: Apply a small drop of nail glue to the centre of the press-on nail. Too much glue may leak out from the press-on creating a mess and potentially damaging the skin. Placing the small drop in the middle would help with the glue’s distribution when it is pressed down.
- If Adhesive Tabs: Choose the correct size, peel off the backing, and place it on the centre of the press-on nails. Avoid touching the adhesive surface too much since this could weaken its stickiness.
Apply the Press-on Nails
- Align carefully: Make sure that they are all the correct sizes in each nail. Make sure to work quickly to avoid the adhesive/glue from drying out.
File and Shape
- Recheck. Once all the press-on nails are set into position and are pressed down properly, nail filing would also be great to have the edges get a seamless look.
Apply Top Coat (Optional)
- Add Shine and Protection. Apply the clear coat to help the press-on nails seal its position, add shine, and durability.
Use UV LED Light (Optional)
- Place Your Hand in theLamp. Ensure all nails are positioned evenly under the lamp. Set the timer to 30 seconds or 60 seconds, whichever is appropriate for your gel polish. Note that don’t expose too much as it can be harmful to your skin.
Moisturise (Optional)
- Hydrate. Apply cuticle oil to moisturise your cuticles and keep the nails healthy.
